Draconology: The secret of fire
Seeing as how it's #smaugust I figured there's no better time than now to put this special one up. While I've tried and made everything in the Draconology universe as realistic as possible, I have to admit that I could not resist giving dragons their trademark fire-breathing ability. There are of course plenty of more ultra-realistic ways of explaining this (acid, venom etc), I figured it would be fun to take at least some creative liberties. So I challenged myself to try and explain this (in)famous trait of dragons in as realistic a manner as possible. Some might notice that this is very different from how most speculative takes on dragons approach fire breathing. Based on what I've seen, most explain it as dragons spewing a gas like hydrogen and/or methane and igniting it with everything from electricity to metals. I've personally always found a serious problem with this. As someone who's been responsible for more than a few "incidents" in the chemistry lab, I've got a fairly good
